Rebecca Cathcart is a financial advisor who believes in a holistic approach to advising. Joining Randy Scritchfield and Associates was, a natural step for her because her personal beliefs align with the firm’s core financial advising philosophy. She focuses on getting to know her clients on a personal level so she can best guide them. This principal value is based on her understanding that a plan needs to not only make logical sense, but connect with the heart and emotion behind it all.
A Registered Representative with a FINRA Series 7 General Securities Representative registration, Rebecca also holds her Series 66, the NASAA Uniform Combined State Law Exam. She is insurance licensed for life, health, variable life and annuity, and other investment products. She has an extensive work history which includes positions held in a funeral home and family law office. Beginning her insurance career in 2017, she transitioned to the financial services industry in 2021. Being a young female financial advisor allows her to see the industry from a different perspective from many in the industry. She connects the new, more analytic trend of “do it yourself” and couples that with the tried-and-true Financial Advisor/Client relationship. Knowing that “new” –while wonderful in its fresh insight, –does not replace the wisdom that is fostered through the experience of a well-established financial planning firm.
An active leader in the community, Rebecca Cathcart has earned many accolades and awards for her passion and commitment to her community. She’s earned an Outstanding Community Leader Award from the Clarksburg Chamber of Commerce, a Certificate of Appreciation from the Commissioners of Poolesville, and an Official Citation from the Maryland General Assembly. She’s been the Director of Community Relations for Stand UpCounty, the Events Chair of the Clarksburg Chamber of Commerce, a Board Member of the Poolesville Area Chamber of Commerce and the current founder and leader of Uniquely UpCounty.
Rebecca is a certified Dive Master through the Professional Association of Diving Instructors. Scuba diving has taught her to STOP – THINK – BREATHE – ACT, which not only applies to problem solving underwater, but is a critical way of approaching life on land as well. She has dove in many different waters, but her favorite dive trip was to the Galapagos Islands where she had the unique opportunity to dive with whale sharks.
Rebecca is a first generation American with her mother new to the country from Cali, Colombia. Rebecca was born and raised in Montgomery County, Maryland and has lived here all her life. She attended Northwest High School and went on to receive her Associates Degree from Montgomery College in General Studies. She then obtained her Bachelors of Arts in History from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG).
Rebecca and her husband Brian reside in Upper Montgomery County, Maryland. They have 2 black cats and 2 incredible nieces.
